Avant Coeur is the name of our Competitive Gymnastics Team. Our mission is simple:
“We exist to provide every athlete in our developmental and competitive team programs with a
rewarding and fulfilling experience through the building of character, and "Heart Above All"
(The French "Avant Coeur" means Heart First or Heart Above All). We are working towards this by
focusing on respect for themselves and others, time management skills, self discipline, development
of competitive abilities, dedication to a team, strong work habits, goal setting ability, a love
of exercise and an overall sense of accomplishment in their endeavors. In short, an attitude of
“never less that the best we can do”.

TOPs and HOPEs
Invitational Training Groups
The IEGA TOPs-HOPEs program is an invitational program designed to provide
intensive conditioning and skills development for athletes who qualify according
to the USAG TOPs standards.
The USAG TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program) is a talent search and educational
program for female gymnast ages 7-11 and their coaches. During the months of June
and July gymnasts age 7-11 are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or
regional level.
From there, athletes are invited to participate in the National TOP test that
is conducted in the month of October where they will be evaluated on the same
physical abilities tests along with some basic gymnastics skills. Athletes are
then invited to participate in the National TOP Training camp which takes place
in December of each year.
IEGA's Manager of Gymnastics Programs and Head Optional Girls Team Coach,
Lisa Adlard, is the Idaho State Director of TOPs, and brings a wealth of knowledge
to our gym.
